“Hmm, is the bus driver taking the ‘mick’, or should I just get another bus?” well that is what I was thinking at 08:15am last Sunday on my way to catch the 08:27am Leamington Spa train from Manchester Picadilly. Moments later as I sit down in the ‘Quiet zone’ the train leaves the platform. ”Phew that was close.”
So i went off to Birmingham to see the Autosport international in its 22nd year @ the N.E.C. I arrived on the last day to see the guys from THE MAXXIS BRITISH DRIFT CHAMPIONSHIP. They had received mammoth amounts of acknowledgement and feedback from many visitors of the show. I also went to see what other motors I could get a glimpse of like the Porsche 918-RS-R, the 767bhp le-mans concept racer that uses the 911GT3 R hybrid race car innovative flywheel and electric motor technology generated during braking.
The McLaren MP4-12C GT3 (above right) was also an interesting find as it has actually be DETUNED from the road spec 593bhp to 493bhp and with an addition of a 6 speed sequential gearbox it’s prepared to dominate tracks all over the globe as they are making 25 GT3’s.
(The great V8 FD of MPHcustoms is now for sale follow this link to find out more)
As this was my first time at this show I tried to view as much as I could like the go karts and the 2pm live action show. After such a massive event and 24 hours later, the bright Monday sun peeked through the curtains and it seemed that whilst browsing on facebook, I had missed out on the much loved RWB ‘number one’ Porsche (relevent picture not found) which is such a smooth and photogenic car.
Oh well there is always next year.
Peace, Random
